WSCF AP’s Standing Committee appointed Doim Bangjoo from the Korean Student Christian Federation (KSCF) as WSCF AP’s Human Rights, Justice and Peace Coordinator until July 2010. Bangjoo is a senior friend and currently works as program coordinator for KSCF in Seoul.
Doim holds a Bachelors Degree in Law from Hanlim University and Masters in Theology from Hanshin Graduate School and Seongkonghui Theological Seminary in Seoul.
He was a WSCF AP Standing Committee member from 2006-2008 as a member-at-large. He joined KSCF in 1993 while studying in Hanlim University, became part-time staff for Education Planning and International Program from 1997to 2007. He participated in the WSCF global inter-regional leadership program in Mexico1997, the WSCF AP’s Gender Sensitivity Workshop in Hong Kong 2001, and became WSCF AP’s Human Rights Intern with the Burma Issues in Thailand in 2003. He likewise helped co-organize and helped the WSCF regional programs in Korea, Philippines and Thailand.
Bangjoo brings with him a wealth of experience in working with justice issues and campaigns of marginalized communities such as the Christian homosexuals in Korea, Japan’s military sexual slavery, sex workers in US Bases in Korea, differently-abled persons, democracy in Burma, anti-US Military Bases Campaign, indigenous people and other issues. In 1995, Bangjoo was imprisoned for 2 months and was given a one-year and a half jail sentence for braking the National Security Law and for demonstrating against the United States of America policy in Korea.
We welcome and congratulate Bangjoo for taking on this challenging role and thank Paddy Noble, our out-going HR Coordinator, for his commitment and hard work in the last two years.
