At first I thank all of you for your prayers and solidarity for peace in Pakistan. I am e-mailing to inform you that Mr. Amir Naveed Jeeva, Vice Chairman of SCM Pakistan was arrested for last three days during the protest against the emergency even at present he is vulnerable for further arrests. I would like to request all of you to continue praying for SCM Pakistan and are able leadership of our chairman Mr. Sohail Akhtar who is also involved in different protests.

Mr. Amir Naveed is a Former Member of Provincial Assembly (Miniroties, Punjab) from the Pakistan Poeples Party seat (Benezir Bhutto’s party). He is also a Coordinator of All Pakistan Miniorties Alliance (South Punjab) and Vice Chairperson of SCM Pakistan. Benezir Bhutto announced a long march rally against the emergency scheduled on November 13, 2007 in Lahore. Amir was also leading one of the groups in long march on November 13 and was protesting the emergency.
Suddenly the Punjab Police started beating the protesters in which Amir was severely injured and was than arrested, the police registered First Information Report (FIR) against him and shifted him to Kot Lakpat Jail, Lahore. He was released from Jail on November 16, 2007, he was in jail for three days from 13 November to 16 November. He is free now and is still actively involved in protests. I once like to thank you for your prayers and solidarity towards Pakistan.
