The Women’s Pre-Meeting was attended by 6 official delegates of the National Movements in the Regional Committee Meeting. The women delegates expressed a sense of positivity in the Regional Women's Programme (RWP) that gives an overall impression of:
- An inspiring energy of solidarity among women SCMers
- Sharing of experiences and acknowledging each other’s talents and gifts
- Motivated more committed members especially new students
- A learning place
- Provides a continuing journey in the SCM
The women delegates continued on to envision the thrusts for the RWP for the next Regional Women’s Committee (RWC) to work on. The visions are:
- Develop new approaches/alternatives to women leadership
- To strengthen:
- theological foundation using feminist perspectives
- formation process should be integral and leading to action
- partnership to be more holistic between women and men, women and women, men and men
- Mainstreaming women’s concerns with:
- on-going women’s programme
- integrate women’s concerns in general programmes and activities of
WSCF AP
- Spirituality: strengthening our faith
The recommendations for the women’s programmes for 2007-2008 are:
- Women Doing Theology: Feminist Theological Reflection
- Course on women’s leadership that includes modules on:
- communication and language skills especially on English
- confidence training
- moderating and facilitating skills in meetings or programmes
- Women and men’s programme on empowerment and transformation
- Women’s Support Group for mentoring and serving as support network for both senior friends and students.
