The history of SCM in Taiwan began in 1954 when the first student centre was opened by the Presbyterian Church of South America. The 1200 membership of this movement is mainly among Presbyterian Church of Taiwan with eight student centres. SCM focus on democracy on campuses concern for aborigines, environmental protection, human rights and nationhood of Taiwan.
